Harland Clarke is pleased to announce updated and new University content: Training for Credit Union Boards, released February 11, 2011.
NEW/UPDATE! Training for Credit Union Boards: This program covers the most important topics required by credit union’s Board of Directors, covered in the following seven courses:
* What is a Credit Union? Focuses on the basic principles of credit unions and the differences between credit unions and banks.
* Board and Committee Structure and Liability. Discusses the different responsibilities of the Board as well as the committee structure at most credit unions and the liability associated with being a member of a Credit Union Board.
* Credit Union Laws and Regulations. Provides a general overview of the many credit union laws and regulations that should be understood by a member of the Board.
* Finance Basics for Boards. Takes a look at the basic principles of finance at a credit union, and provides a basic understanding of the key financial statements at a credit union (e.g., income statement, balance sheet, etc.).
* Asset Liability Management. Focuses on the general principles of Asset Liability Management (ALM) at a credit union and how Boards are generally affected by appropriate ALM.
* Fraud and Security for Boards. Provides a general overview of the key fraud and security issues of concern as a member of the Board of Directors at a credit union.
* Effective Board Leadership. Discusses the importance of proper board governance as well as the critical relationship between the Board and management team at a credit union.
The updates and new content is currently available in your course list under the new category name: Training for Credit Union Boards.
Please note, "Training for Credit Union Board Members" replaces the "Volunteer" category. "Volunteer" course content has been updated and new content has been added relating to the recent NCUA requirements for Board Members. The "Volunteer" category has been retired.

The Education Team has received many questions regarding this training. We want you to be aware that it is in production and will be released within the next few weeks, well in advance of the July 27, 2011 deadline for compliance.

NEW! Management Training Program: This program is divided into three categories: Management 100, Management 200 and Management 300. It replaces the existing Leadership and TQM Courses. Management 100 and 200 are currently available in your Course Catalog. Look for Management 300 to be released shortly. The Leadership and TQM courses and Categories will be phased out 3/31/2011. Please begin assigning the Management Training Program Courses instead of Leadership and/or TQM courses as soon as possible and complete any previous assignments for Leadership and/or TQM by 3/31/2011.
